Call for Applications: Open Science Advisory Services

Tue, Apr 14, 2026 - Thu, Dec 31, 2026

Applications are now open for the second round of our Open Science Advisory Services (OSAS) program. The OSAS program provides funding to help companies, non-profits, and academic organizations access the specialized expertise needed to advance open science-aligned life sciences innovations toward the market. By reducing financial barriers to critical third-party services, OSAS supports projects where open sharing and collaboration are central to progress.

With $4.9 million CAD available for disbursement, OSAS enables applicants to overcome key development hurdles by offsetting the costs of hiring third-party experts while ensuring that supported work contributes meaningful value back to the ecosystem.

Comprehensive support and matchmaking for innovation

The scope of OSAS is purposefully broad, encompassing any life science innovation with the potential to impact human health. For applicants who need help finding the right Canadian third-party experts, the program also serves as a strategic matchmaker, ensuring that every project is paired with the right expertise to move the needle.

Funding is directed toward hiring Canadian third-party experts, including:

  • Regulatory & IP strategists: Navigating filings and charting open commercialization pathways
  • Business consultants: Conducting market, customer, and competitive analyses
  • Contract Research Organizations (CROs): Performing vital in-vitro, in-vivo, or in-silico studies to support regulatory approval
  • Legal & financial advisors: Establishing open science partnerships and sustainable pricing plans

Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis and grants will be awarded until no more funding is available. To learn more about the eligibility criteria and how to apply, click the link below.
